Disney Plus UK Price 2026
Disney+ offers three subscription tiers in the UK. The entry-level plan includes adverts, while Standard and Premium are ad-free. Only Premium unlocks 4K Ultra HD and Dolby Vision. All plans are available monthly or annually — annual plans offer a meaningful saving.
| Plan | Monthly | 4K | Screens | Downloads |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard with Ads | £4.99/mo | No | 2 | No |
| Standard | £7.99/mo | No | 2 | 25 titles |
| Premium | £11.99/mo | 4K Dolby Vision | 4 | 25 titles |
Annual subscriptions are available at a discount. Check disneyplus.com for current annual pricing as Disney+ updates plans periodically. Kids profiles on the Standard with Ads plan are ad-free.
Which plan should I choose?
Standard with Ads (£4.99) is excellent value for families — Kids profiles are always ad-free, so children are unaffected by adverts. Standard (£7.99) suits adults who want no adverts and offline downloads. Premium (£11.99) is the only choice if you have a 4K TV — and it is cheaper than Netflix Premium for 4K.
Annual vs Monthly
Disney+ rewards commitment with annual billing discounts — typically the equivalent of one to two months free. If you are confident you will stay subscribed, paying annually saves money. Check the Disney+ site for current annual rates as these are updated from time to time.
Pros & Cons
Pros

- ✓Star hub adds thousands of adult shows and films
- ✓Best-value 4K streaming — Premium at £11.99 vs Netflix at £17.99
- ✓Ad-free Kids profiles even on the cheapest plan
- ✓Up to 4 simultaneous streams on Premium
- ✓GroupWatch for shared viewing with friends and family
- ✓Outstanding catalogue depth for franchise fans
Cons
- ✗4K only on the Premium plan — Standard tops out at 1080p
- ✗No free trial for new UK subscribers
- ✗Smaller library overall (~1,500 titles vs Netflix ~6,000+)
- ✗Only 25 offline downloads — Netflix allows 100
- ✗Limited variety outside Disney/Marvel/Star Wars/NatGeo
- ✗Ads on the Standard with Ads plan during adult content
- ✗Hulu bundle not available in the UK
4K, Dolby Vision & Audio Quality
Disney+ offers some of the best picture quality available in streaming — but only on the Premium plan. The distinction matters.
Premium plan (£11.99/month)
- 4K Ultra HD where available
- Dolby Vision HDR on supported titles and TVs
- Dolby Atmos immersive audio on supported titles
- Up to 4 simultaneous streams
Standard and Standard with Ads
- Maximum 1080p Full HD
- No Dolby Vision or Dolby Atmos
- Still supports HDR10 on some content
- Up to 2 simultaneous streams
If you own a 4K television, the Premium plan is the clear choice. Disney produces some of the most visually stunning 4K content available — Star Wars and Marvel films in Dolby Vision are a genuine step up.
GroupWatch — Watch Together Remotely
Disney+ GroupWatch lets you synchronise playback with up to 6 other Disney+ subscribers anywhere in the world. Everyone needs their own Disney+ account (any plan), and playback stays in sync automatically.
How GroupWatch works
- Find the film or series you want to watch on Disney+
- Select the GroupWatch icon on the details page
- Invite friends by sharing the link (up to 6 others)
- Everyone clicks the link and joins — they must have their own Disney+ subscription
- React with emojis in real time as you watch together
GroupWatch is available on web, iOS, Android, and most Smart TVs. Playback controls (pause, rewind) are shared — if one person pauses, everyone pauses.
Offline Downloads
Downloads are available on the Standard and Premium plans. The Standard with Ads plan does not include offline viewing.
| Detail | Info |
|---|---|
| Plans with downloads | Standard, Premium |
| Max downloads | 25 titles at a time |
| Devices supported | iOS and Android phones and tablets |
| Download expiry | 30 days from download |
| Playback window | 48 hours after you start watching |
Compare: Netflix allows up to 100 downloads per plan, so Disney+ is more restrictive. However, for most content types — a full series box set or a handful of films — 25 is sufficient for a week of offline viewing.
The Hulu Bundle — Not Available in the UK
In the US, Disney offers a bundle combining Disney+, Hulu (streaming), and ESPN+ (sport). This significantly increases the value of Disney+ in America.
Hulu and ESPN+ are not available in the UK. Neither service is licensed for UK distribution. UK subscribers cannot access the bundle deal.
Instead, UK subscribers get the Star hub built into their Disney+ subscription at no extra cost. Star carries content from ABC, FX, Freeform, and 20th Century Studios — including shows like The Bear, Grey's Anatomy, Only Murders in the Building, and a wide film library. It serves a similar purpose to Hulu but is included automatically rather than sold separately.
Best Shows on Disney+ UK Right Now
Disney+'s strongest content spans Star Wars originals, Marvel series, and the Star hub — which adds prestige drama well beyond the family-friendly core.

Our Verdict: Is Disney+ Worth It in the UK?
Disney+
Best value streaming for families and franchise fans
Yes — for most UK households, Disney+ is worth it. At £4.99/month, Standard with Ads is one of the cheapest paid streaming subscriptions in the UK, and the content catalogue — Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and the Star hub — punches well above that price point.
Families with young children will find it an essential subscription. The Disney vault and Pixar library alone justify the cost, with Kids profiles that are always ad-free even on the cheapest plan.
For 4K viewers, Premium at £11.99/month is the most affordable 4K tier of any major UK streaming service — considerably cheaper than Netflix Premium at £17.99. The caveat: Disney+'s library is smaller than Netflix's. Most subscribers find it works best alongside another service rather than as a sole subscription.
